"What a wonderful evening. I was thinking it would be depressing. No, it is a love story and it has a happy ending."
- a patron who attended the February production

We had an excellent beginning. Now, we must learn what went right and what needs improving. Then, we will be ready for our next productions this fall.

We have our charity, Life With Cancer, part of INOVA Health Services. They tell their story of compassionate care better than we can. Please go to their web site here. The Life With Cancer site will open in a new window.

We have a growing list of civic groups committed to helping us and we have our first area businesses helping out.

Many people have asked us to repeat The Actual Dance. So we have our play. Now we must select our venue and date.

Playwright and actor Sam Simon generously agreed to forgo fees and expense reimbursement to help Strange Bedfellow get our first productions up and running. But we can't ask Sam and Susan to continue to reach into their pockets. They are doing so much already. We need even more Falls Church volunteers and civic organizations to come forward to help us make this fall's productions a huge fundraising success.

Please remember: All ticket fees and contributions - every penny - will go directly to Life With Cancer. Therefore, your entire ticket cost is totally deductable for tax purposes.

How do we pay our expenses? A few of the folks who came up with this charity fundraising idea are footing the operating costs. If you would like to be part of this "angel" group, please contact us.

Organizations currently committed to helping include American Legion Post 130, the Catholic War Veterans, the Falls Church Lions Club, the Falls Church Area Branch of the American Association of University Women, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Citizens for a Sustainable City, the Falls Church Democrats and Republicans, the Cherrywood Homeowners Association, the Greater Hillwood Citizens Association, the Village Preservation and Improvement Society, Greater Falls Church Veterans, the League of Women Voters and Boy Scout Troop 349.

Please consider joining these Falls Church leadership groups. Do you belong to a group that might be interested in joining us? Please put us in touch.

We have so many excellent groups in Northern Virginia, with dedicated and creative volunteers. If each does just a little, we can get a lot done.

See the home page to email us or fill out the response form.

Thank you!

About the Play

The Actual Dance, written and performed by Sam Simon, is a dramatic exploration of the emotional and spiritual journey of confronting the possibility of being with the person you have loved most in the world through the end of life. In the spring of 2000, Sam's wife, Susan, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. That diagnosis and subsequent treatments took both of them on a roller coaster ride that moved from elation to despair and back again. The Actual Dance is a presentation of that ride from Sam's perspective.
